Guatemala 2025
EXPLORE Mayan Guatemala on this Travel Photography JourneySmall groups travel as friends, care like family, and are open to spontaneous experiences. We will pick you up at the airport and drive to the old colonial UNESCO town of Antigua. Three days in Antigua and surrounding villages will give you plenty of time to photograph, visit markets and meet Guatemalan people who we support. Burning incense and ancient rituals will mesmerize anyone during our day trip to Chichicastanango. It is one of the largest mystical markets in Central America. Put on your tennis shoes for a visit to gorgeous Lake Atitlan. We visit several villages by boat around the lake with lots of fun and surprises to explore. We'll be back in Antigua to prepare our cameras for the incredible Kite flying in graveyards These home-crafted Kites are often as big as a 2-story building.
You may feel you have stepped back in time when you step across the threshold into the mysterious and breathtaking wonders of the ancient Mayan world. You'll make some incredible photos to bring home. We get up early to photograph with the best light, take the opportunity to do some nighttime shooting during clear nights and enjoy some of the night cultures.
Every few days we circle around to critique and share photos. If you want to be a better photographer sharing is the best way to get better.
Towering volcanoes, the colorful Mayan indigenous culture, and ancient Lake Atitlan each offer its own magical journey. You'll be up close with the Mayan cultures and awe-inspiring natural wonders.

Havana is a festival for the eyes and especially photography. Where ever your skills are in photography you'll find photos around every corner in Havana. After we have a few days exploring Havana and surrounding towns we take an overnight trip to a Cuban tobacco farm. You can opt for a horseback ride across the limestone hills or enjoy a sunrise photography opportunity in Viñales Cuba.
Witness the organic tobacco harvest and see how they create handmade Cuban cigars. It's a fantastic process to see and photograph. You can legally take home cigars. We stay the night near the farm and have plenty of opportunities to roam the village for night photos in the evening.
Two photography coaches and two speakers in Cuba will join us. Elaine Diaz, the Editor-and-Chief of Cuba's online environmental magazine will join us for a morning talk. Hal Klepek, a professor at Havana University will share his vast knowledge of Cuba with us as well.
